Newcastle United Enter Race to Sign Christopher Nkunku as AC Milan Exit Looms

Newcastle United have emerged as a serious contender for Christopher Nkunku as the French forward edges closer to leaving AC Milan. His time at San Siro could come to an end just one year after arriving from Chelsea in a €37 million deal. With new head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly not including him in his plans, Milan are prepared to move on as they reshape their attacking options.

Newcastle have already made contact with Nkunku’s representatives to explore the possibility of bringing him back to the Premier League. Head coach Matthias Jaissle is keen to add more quality and versatility to his attack, and Nkunku fits the profile thanks to his ability to play as a central striker, second forward or attacking midfielder. His flexibility could make him an attractive option for Newcastle as they prepare for another demanding season.

The Magpies face competition from several European clubs. Former side RB Leipzig are considering a reunion after Nkunku enjoyed an outstanding spell there, scoring 70 goals and providing 45 assists across four seasons. Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring the situation, while clubs from Spain and Italy have reportedly shown interest in the 28-year-old attacker.
Newcastle could have an advantage thanks to their financial strength and the appeal of returning to English football. Nkunku is believed to be looking for consistent first-team opportunities after a difficult period in recent years. His spell at Chelsea produced only six Premier League goals in 38 appearances, although he still collected major silverware through the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.

Talks between Newcastle and Nkunku’s representatives could therefore become increasingly important in the coming days. A move to St James’ Park would give the Frenchman another opportunity to revive his career in the Premier League while providing Newcastle with an experienced and versatile attacking option. If negotiations progress smoothly, Nkunku could soon be heading back to England.
